Smartphones have been evolving rapidly over the past few years. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Samsung has a slew of much-awaited phones set to be launched later this year. Featuring the freshly unveiled tech like 5G and Wi-Fi 6, Samsung’s latest offerings also boast class-leading refresh rate AMOLED screens and artificial intelligence-powered camera systems.
Here’s what we can expect to see from Samsung later in 2020.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 / Galaxy Z Fold 2
Slated for a release in mid-2020, this latest handset from Samsung has already got the rumor mills buzzing. With the version of its S20 family and Z fold, everyone has their eyes set on the Fold 2, the upgrade to the company’s first folding smartphone. While its predecessor was priced at close to $1400, the Fold 2 is likely to be priced higher, in the $2000 range.
When it comes to the display, we can expect this device to feature the Infinity-V 7.7 AMOLED display with UTG and a 4.6 AMOLED HD+ external display. The Fold 2 is rumored to have the same 120 Hz display as featured in the S20 family. It would make sense that Samsung would incorporate its flexible Ultra-Thin Glass to protect the screen as seen in the Galaxy Z fold too.
On the hardware front, while the company has been tight-lipped, there is speculation that the phone will be a 5G device with 512 GB of onboard storage and 12GB of RAM. It will also most probably feature flagship-grade hardware. Online leaks have also suggested that the Fold 2 will support the S pen and have a different display design.
Optically, the Fold 2 could feature a tri camera system as seen in the S20+ This would offer a 12 MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 64MP 30x zoom camera. An under-display or punch hole camera shouldn’t be ruled out.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20
With an expected release date of August 2020, in keeping with past models of the Note family, the Galaxy Note 20 is expected to be available in two models.
5G will be the core feature of this device, and we hope to see a minimum of 12Gb RAM to keep up with speed. As a standard, the heart of the note devices has always been the latest Qualcomm processor. It’s almost sure that the Note 20 will run on the Snapdragon 865.
While leaks have been few, when it comes to the design elements of this phone, it may be safe to say that it will ship with flagship-type hardware. Keeping technology that they’ve used in the S20 family, Samsung is most likely to stay with the 120Hz display and new camera zoom tech.Given the recent price increases by Samsung for their other models, speculations are that this handset will be in the high $1000 range.
As fans wait with bated breath for the new phones of the future, the current worldwide coronavirus crisis might slow down production and push the release dates further.
